Land Acknowledgment

Jefferson County is situated within the traditional homelands of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Jamestown S’Klallam, Port Gamble S’Klallam, Lower Elwha Klallam and the Skokomish tribes.

Clallam County is located within the ancestral homelands of the Klallam, Quileute, and Makah tribes.

These Indigenous communities have lived on and cared for this land since time immemorial, stewarding its resources and maintaining a deep connection to the natural world.

As we reflect on the legacy of colonization and its impact on Indigenous peoples, we commit to fostering meaningful relationships, promoting reconciliation, and upholding Indigenous sovereignty, self-determination, and rights. May we strive to walk in solidarity with Indigenous peoples, amplify their voices, and work towards healing, justice, and equity.
